Butch has been eating sandwiches and pizza since he was 2 years old. He remembers his childhood years in Brooklyn, NY sharing grilled cheese sandwiches with pigeons on his terrace, and eating knishes with his grandmothers at Irving's Pizza, smelling the unmistakable aroma of fresh bagels and bialys a few doors away.

Butch left the friendly and familiar confines of the New York area and his family for Indiana University in search of an education, a national basketball ball title and bars open til 3:00 A.M. He is still waiting for that national title, but has faith in Coach Creen. Butch felt easily at home in Bloomington, yet missed his favorite foods such as New York deli and pizza.

Butch doing what he does best.Late one night came the epiphany: Butch and some friends were watching an IU game on T.V. when someone suggested ordering takeout. The usual arguing ensued over what food to order - pizza, sandwiches, or salads. Butch immediately recognized the opportunity and shortly thereafter began to plan his restaurant, Butch's Grillacatessen and Eatzeria.

Butch returned home and worked for free at his neighborhood Italian restaurant to learn the art of tossing pizzas, making marina and other sauces, in addition to calzones, focaccia bread, pepperoni wheels, garlic knots, and cannoli. From the "five Towns" area of Long Island, NY came the Mish Salads that are finely chopped salads of your choice topped with your favorite dressings and scoops of deli salads of chicken, tuna, hummus or guacamole to eat on the go. Butch's Big Grillas are thick stacked sandwiches securely wrapped to keep them from exploding while being devoured. An example is the Big L, chicken fingers or grilled chicken, mozzarella sticks, French fires and marinara sauce on a 9” sub roll. The recipes for potato latkes, knishes and matzoh ball soup are long-time family favorites.

Refusing to cut corners, Butch uses only the freshest and highest quality ingredients, receiving produce orders 5 days a week. Butch went through the time consuming process of meeting with suppliers throughout the Midwest to ensure access to exclusive brands such as: Boars Head, Hebrew National and Grande Cheese. His authentic New York pizza is hand tossed and baked on a deck oven to ensure a crispy curst, while the latkes and knishes are made by hand on premises.

Butch takes extreme pride in his extensive multi-page menu. Whether dining in, taking out, or ordering delivery, he is certain you will be satisfied. Of course, that is, after you finally decided what to order!
